Transportation in CSULB

In close partnership with the campus Sustainability Task Force and the South Coast Air Quality. Management District are in full support of the Climate Action Plan; the department strives to mitigate traffic congestion and vehicle related greenhouse gas emissions through programs such as:

BUS

The UPASS TAP program provides free bus rides on Long Beach Transit buses for qualified students, faculty and staff to reduces the number of commutes to the campus.

BIKE

The League of American Bicyclists has designated the university as a bicycle friendly business. With 65 bike racks, 3 repair stations, Traffic Skills 101 and monthly bike clinics, commuters are encouraged to leave their cars at home and bike to the campus.

CAMPUS SHUTTLE

Campus shuttles run on compressed natural gas which produces 30% less emissions than traditional gasoline fueled vehicles.

Ideation
Main goals of this research

Based on all my research, all major transportation modes, pedestrians, and mobility methods in the CSULB offer many commuting options including bus, bike, campus shuttle, carpool, car share, and electric vehicle chargers that can help students have a convenient commute during their stay in the CSULB. Details on each transportation mode is well explained in the CSULB website,. However, to give students a more convenient way to explore these data and familiarize themselves with the transportations system, I believe that this mobile application will offer them a more convenient way of accessing those information, on their handheld devices, at any time, much faster and easier.

Also, the main purposes of this application would be:

1. Showing

all types of transportation.

with more specific details on every transportation.

2. Identify a new generation of parking lots

(Locations / Availability)

It saves students time to find a parking space by showing available empty spots on an interactive map.

3.

Directions

, It helps students see various routing options to their destinations (based on time, price)

4.

Transportation information

(Online)

5. Rentals options

6. Schedules

The first version of this app will cover the 3 first main above purposes.
